I’ve spent a fair bit of the last week doing some embarrassingly long-overdue amendments to my website (nothing too clever, just updating photos and creating a page for workshops now that I’m running these from my studio). As part of my wandering about the internet I happened upon my old stand-alone blog on Blogspot. I hadn’t realised, but I actually wrote my first blog on 5 August 2009, wow 10 years of blogging!
I can remember putting off starting a blog for ages (typical artist prevarication). Will anyone be interested or want to read any of this, is anyone actually reading this? I still have no idea on either count!! But regardless of the audience, it was a really good trip down memory lane for me of how far I’ve come with my felting work, as well as a reminder of all the different events I’ve done.
As I’ve been focusing my felting on bags in the last few years, it was also interesting to go back to the first bag I ever made using the ‘bag on a ball’ method which I use now. I learned it on a course back in 2012. Here are photos of that first bag, both during the felting process and finished.
And just to balance things up, here are photos of my most recent bag made the same way (albeit my own version of the basic technique) a couple of weeks ago. I’m pleased to see how my felting has improved since then (err, as well as my photography!).
It’s weird to think of potentially another 10 years of blogging (when I’ll be linking back to this post), but I can’t see me giving up felting anytime soon so I guess I’ll see you then! And if anyone is actually reading this and would like to see what I’ve been up to in the past decade, click here!
