Online Felting Courses

I currently offer 6 online courses, as well as free tutorials on my YouTube channel.  All of my courses are made up of step-by-step recorded videos, along with lots of other helpful material, which are kept in your own account area accessible only by you.  You can watch and rewatch the videos as much as you like, and you have forever access to all courses. Here’s more detail about each course.

Mastering Wet Felting: Create Decorative Wool Items

This course launched in August 2025 on the Domestika platform.  It’s the perfect all-round beginner’s wet felting course, covering all the basics like the different types and formats of wool fibre and how to choose them for different projects, through to guiding you through the full wet felting process.  It includes flat felting and flat resist felting techniques, and teaches you how to make two projects: a felt lampshade and a seamless fringed cushion.  The course is available with audio in English and Spanish, as well as subtitles in many other languages. You can find out more details and watch the course trailer here: Mastering Wet Felting: Create Decorative Wool Items.  I am also offering kits for both the lampshade and cushion projects in my UK online Folksy shop (with worldwide delivery).

Please note that Domestika offers options to purchase the course either as a (nearly) free 30-day trial with a subsequent annual membership (12 months paid for in one installment), or as a one-off, regular full price payment.  If you are planning on making use of lots of Domestika courses, then an annual membership is a great option.  However if you are only interested in this course, I would recommend the stand-alone, one-off payment which is a great price for such an in-depth course and will give you forever access to it and plenty of time to complete the course at your own pace without tying you in to a larger annual payment.

Felt Bowl on a Ball

This course launched in July 2024.  It’s a great beginner course if you’d like to try out felting on a ball as it’s a straightforward project using the smaller green felting ball.  The course consists of a series of detailed videos which explain every step of the process to creating your bowl.  The course is hosted by Living Felt in Texas (so the price will be in US dollars) – here’s the link to more details (including an explanatory video) Felt Bowl on a Ball course.  If you’d like to purchase a materials kit specifically to go with the course, I offer kits in my UK online Folksy shop.  Living Felt also has kits in their online shop.

Creating Bespoke Wet Felted Bags Using Advanced Techniques

This is my latest online course which launched in December 2025, also on the Domestika platform.  This new course is a slightly different and updated version of my original Felt Bag on a Ball course (see below).  It takes you step-by-step through the full process of making two styles of felt bag: firstly a grab bag/basket style with short cord handles (using the smaller green ball); and then a larger bag with a flap closure and inside pocket (using the larger purple ball).  It also shows you how to attach strap rings and a metal clasp closure, plus use a variety of wool fibres and embellishment materials, and includes full lists of the materials used and links to suppliers.

Like my other Domestika course, this course is available with audio in English and Spanish, as well as subtitles in many other languages. You can find out more details and watch the course trailer here: Creating Bespoke Wet Felted Bags Using Advanced Techniques.  I am also currently working on offering bag kits for both styles in my UK online Folksy shop (with worldwide delivery) – in the meantime you’ll find clasps, straps and embellishment materials already available there.

Again, please note that Domestika offers options to purchase the course either as a (nearly) free 30-day trial with a subsequent annual membership (12 months paid for in one installment), or as a one-off, regular full price payment.  If you are planning on making use of lots of Domestika courses, then an annual membership is a great option.  However if you are only interested in this course, I would recommend the stand-alone, one-off payment which is a great price for such an in-depth course and will give you forever access to it and plenty of time to complete the course at your own pace without tying you in to a larger annual payment.

three wet felted bagsIn April 2021 I launched my first online wet felting course, Felt Bag on a Ball.  This in-depth course teaches everything you need to create a beautiful wool felt handbag using the wet felting ball technique (mainly using the larger purple ball). It includes how to add inside pockets as well as how to discreetly attach sew-on buckle-style clasps.  It also includes extra tutorials showing variations, such as a bag with a flap closure (and how to attach a metal turn-lock clasp) and a smaller version of the flap bag (using the smaller green ball).  It includes full lists of the materials used and links to suppliers.  If you’re interested in learning the technique, or you just fancy creating your own felt bag, the course lets you learn at your own pace by watching a comprehensive series of recorded videos (over 8 hours), with unlimited access.

To find out more, just click Felt Bag on a Ball to take you to the course hosting site which sets out all the course details, including a short video trailer which gives you a good idea what the course covers and what the videos look like.  I also offer metal hardware (flap clasps and rings) and bag strap kits, as well as mohair wool yarn packs, in my online Folksy shop.

If you would like to purchase the course as a gift for someone (which can be done as a surprise for them!), it’s really easy – just purchase the course in your own name and email address, then get in touch with me and let me know the recipient’s name and email address and I can change the details on the system to give them access instead of you.  I’ll also email you a voucher to give to them, just let me know whose names you’d like the voucher to be from.

Felt Backpack on a Ball

Natasha Smart and her Felt Backpack Natasha Smart's Felt Backpack Design

November 2022 marked the launch of my more advanced online course, Felt Backpack on a Ball.  The course comprises a series of video tutorials which take you right through the process of using a 3D felting ball resist to create a large, embellished wet felted backpack, with inside and outside pockets, a flap closure, felted-in hardware and a felt strap.  The backpack also converts to a shoulder or cross body bag so is a very versatile design, with no sewing involved.  The course is also hosted by Living Felt, based in Texas.  Both Living Felt and I supply extras you need to complete your backpack, including the metal hardware and embellishment materials such as wool yarns, again visit my UK online Folksy shop for details.

This is a course aimed at beginners and those with felting experience, so it stands alone, but if you have already made a felt bag on a ball you could consider the backpack project an advanced version of the original bag on a ball design.  You can also use your existing purple felting ball to create the backpack.  To find out more, just click Felt Backpack on a Ball to take you to Living Felt’s Felting Tutorials site which sets out all the course details, including a short video trailer which gives you an excellent overview of what the course covers and what the videos look like.  If English is not your first language, the course comes with written captions in many other languages, so do visit the course page for more details.

Nuno Felt Hat and Cowl on a Ball

In March 2024 my nuno felting course to create a felt hat and cowl scarf launched, again hosted by Living Felt.  The Nuno Felt Hat and Cowl on a Ball course shows how to use the nuno felting technique on a ball with silk fabric to create a beautiful shaped hat and cowl scarf in complementary colours using the larger purple felting ball.  Again the course consists of a series of comprehensive recorded videos to show you how to create both items.  I also offer materials kits to complete both projects in my UK online Folksy shop.
